Recently I've been thinking to start this blog to track my success with my new weight loss goals. Over a month ago I started seriously planning this goal. Over the years I have tried several times and have not been successful in achieving that goal. I may not be successful this time but I would like to try writing about my journey to see if it could help me stick to my goal.
For this entry I would like to explain a little about my weight history and what I've recently tried to do to be successful in this lifestyle change.
So truly I wasn't always heavy. I was a normal sized child up until the age of nine. It was at this time that my mother retired from the military and began to be a stay-at-home mom for a two year period. It was then that my dieting began to get out of control. With the extra time that my mom had she was able to cook full meals that were very rich and hearty. Several times we had plenty of leftovers that I enjoyed as an after school snack which was a few hours before I had another full rich and hearty meal. Now I'm not trying to blame my mother because even though I didn't know at the time what good eating habits were, I eventually developed an understanding that concept as I grew older. So my mother's good cooking is not an excuse just the beginning of my struggle.
Now even though I've always had a little extra meat, there were times that I had things under control and saw myself as just a curvaceous young lady ;). During my jr. high and high school years I was involved in several activities that allowed me to sweat some weight off as I continued to eat hearty. Thanks to my involvement in marching band, soft ball and volleyball, I was able to maintain my weight since I didn't have great eating habits to loose any additional weight.
Once I began college I started to realize that I could loose weight if I put in a little effort. Here I started to loose some weight with the help of healthier food options in the cafeteria and walking just about everywhere I had to go. However, once I graduated things started to change.
Since I was now in the workforce and had to really deal with adult issues I had to put in more effort to at least maintain my weight. I realized that stress was now a factor in my weight issues and I had to do something to deal with that. I joined the YMCA and found success by staying consistent and taking some of the classes they offered. However, after experiencing a billing issue and a bit of laziness I stopped going and again watch my weight go up.
At this time I have made a decision to try it again to see if I can do it. After a year (yes I can truly say that it has been that long) of overeating, it became an important mission of mine to do something about it. So since I have renewed my membership at the YMCA and began watching what I eat, I decided to keep track of my success in order to be an additional helper. So here's to me keeping to my goal and being consistent with this blog. Hope to speak to you soon ;).
